The North Platte Buffalos went home winners at Union Pacific Park, thanks in large part to starter Bruce Von Hoff. Von Hoff stifled the Madisonville Miners, enabling North Platte to grab the 3-1 win. Mike Davison earned his 17th save in 21 chances. With the win over Madisonville, the Buffalos improved to 71-43.

Thomas Smith took Catfish Hunter deep in the bottom of the fourth. His solo home run put the Buffalos on top, 2-1. In all, Smith had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Smith.
