|
Kinston Eagles starter Clay Kirby pitched a strong game against the Madisonville Miners at Grainger Park, leading the Eagles to victory, 5-4. Kirby, now 5-10, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 10, walking 3, and allowing 4 runs. Bill Landis recorded the save for Kinston, his 8th of the season.
Jose Cardenal tagged a home run off Terry Felton in the bottom of the fifth. His 3-run blast put the Eagles on top, 5-3. In all, Cardenal had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Winning never gets dull," said Cardenal.
Kinston now sits in 5th place in the AL AAA East at 41-46.
