Allen, Suns Clobber Eagles, 11-2
|
The Jacksonville Suns knocked off the Kinston Eagles, 11-2, at Grainger Park. Robert Allen was a big reason Jacksonville won. The shortstop went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Rick Kavanagh, the winning pitcher, improved to 10-1. He pitched 8.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 3. The Suns lead the AL AAA West by 3½ games.
Allen got the Suns off to a quick start. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Allen told the Jacksonville Today. "It's as simple as that."
