The Rocky Mount Buccaneers managed to get by the Kinston Eagles, 3-2, at Municipal Stadium. Rocky Mount pitcher Douglas Jackson set himself apart with his performance. Willie Prall earned the save for Rocky Mount, his 3rd. Rocky Mount sits at 4-1.

Andrew Timko had a big 3-run home run for the Buccaneers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Rocky Mount trailing 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Keith Thibodeaux and swatted a home run to right. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Buccaneers ahead, 3-2.

"I was a little disappointed," said Kinston manager Victor Fairn. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
