Jopling Belts 3 HRs Thursday, September 15th , 2050 It was a special day for Grant Jopling, but less so for the Rocky Mountain Oysters. Jopling slammed three home runs against the Boise Bluegills, but the Bluegills outhit him and got the win by a score of 12-10. "Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game -- I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." The Rocky Mountain third baseman finished the day at Colorado Field with 3 hits in 7 at-bats, 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Grant Jopling struck out in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Grant Randolph in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Tim Northcutt in the 8th, hit a solo-shot off Chance Loya in the 9th, flied out in the 11th and flied out in the 12th. This year Jopling is batting .397 with 22 home runs. |
