Handley Launches 3 HR for Harbor Hawks
Saturday, May 6th, 2045
Wes Handley brutalized the Orleans Firebirds pitching staff, launching three home runs in today's 15-6 victory at Eldredge Park. The Hyannis Harbor Hawks right fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day.
"I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one."
For the game, he went 3-for-6 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Too much Wes Handley today," Firebirds manager Jamie Blakely said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to."
Wes Handley hit a two-run home run off Zachary Robbins in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Vern Becton in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Solomon Stieff in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.
A look at his season totals shows Handley with 16 home runs, .254 BA, .366 OBP, 34 RBIs and 37 runs scored.
