Yensen Goes Yard 3 Times
Tuesday, February 17th , 2060
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.

It happened at Reckling Park today, as Brian Yensen of the Arizona State Sun Devils unloaded three times against the Rice Owls but was still bumped off 12-11 by the Owls.

"We were lucky to win today," said Rice skipper Dave Woods. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."

For the game, the Arizona State shortstop had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 7.

Yensen spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.

"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."

Brian Yensen hit a three-run home run off Andy Kleiner in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Layne Bennett in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Layne Bennett in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.

In his season totals, Yensen has 4 home runs, .282 BA, .317 OBP, 11 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has played in 9 games.
