Following a postgame meeting with front office officials and ownership, Southworth left the ballpark without addressing reporters. It was then revealed by the team's general manager that Southworth had been dismissed from the club. Few details are available on the firing at this time. "Basically, it just came down to a difference of philosophy between T.J. and management," general manager Joe Unknown said. When reached for comment at his Long Beach State home, Southworth refused to comment on the firing other than to say, "We just mutually parted ways. That's it."
