UCLA Takes Sweet 16 in Deciding Game Tuesday, April 20th , 2060 The fans in UCLA are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Long Beach State. The UCLA Bruins finished off the Long Beach State 49ers 4-3 in the deciding game of the Sweet 16 played at Blair Field. They took the series 2-1 and will now head to the Regionals. For his standout play, UCLA center fielder Rhys Schneider was voted the series' Most Valuable Player. He batted .500, drove in 1 runs and scored 2 to lead his club to victory. "We could never really figure out how to pitch to Schneider and that doomed us," said 49ers manager T.J. Southworth. "Hats off to UCLA, though. That was a great series."
