Sooners Prevail, as Sweet 16 Goes to the Wire Monday, April 21st , 2059 The Sweet 16 went the distance before it all was said and done. The Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas A&M Aggies went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at L. Dale Mitchell Baseball Park, the winner was the Sooners. They put away Texas A&M 11-10 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the Regionals. For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Texas A&M second baseman Christopher Wheat was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .667, scored 3 runs and batted in 5 to win the honor. "It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said. The Regionals matchups and schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes.
