5 Hits for Blue Devils Charpentier Tuesday, March 25th , 2059 After his 5-hit effort at Reckling Park was tarnished by Duke's 8-7 loss to the Rice Owls, first baseman Bryan Charpentier told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win." He didn't get the win, but the 19-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Owls. "His swing is getting there," said Blue Devils skipper James Kraus after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Bryan did that to perfection today and we wasted it." Bryan Charpentier singled in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Logan Benson in the 9th.
