Golden Bears Averette Raps 3 Homers Tuesday, March 18th , 2053 The "hardest feat in sports" debate is a never-ending one with no correct answer, but hitting three home runs is certainly in the conversation. That's exactly what Roman Averette did today at Evans Diamond, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 12-7. "It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Averette said. "Good things happen, when that happens." The California Golden Bears right fielder blistered the Stanford Cardinal for 3 hits, batted in 6 runs and scored 3 times. "It ain't like we weren't trying," Stanford manager Edwin Cantu said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today." Roman Averette struck out in the 1st, walked in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Gabriel Carlton in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Ja'Dante Fernandez in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Seneca Fisch in the 8th. So far this year Averette has hit .333 with 8 home runs, 16 RBIs and 14 runs scored. |
