The Wort Picks Best Starter in June Sunday, July 1st , 2063 The Newark Knights owe Collin Lockwood a lot for his performance this past month. One of the league's most dominant starters in June, Lockwood tore up the opposition with a fine 4-0 mark on his way to the The Wort Pitcher of the Month award. "When you're pitching this well," analyzed Lockwood, "it's a lot easier to come to the park. I don't judge my performance by the stats, I judge it -- the team judges it -- by the score of the game. I could say I'm tossing electric stuff right now and that would go over big. But if I toss that same stuff -- exact same pitch selection and location -- and they bang me around tomorrow, I was awful. That's the way baseball is." It was Lockwood who did the banging in June as he tossed up 22 strikeouts in 33.1 innings, holding opponents to a .202 average and posting a 1.62 ERA. So far in 12 appearances this season, Lockwood has recorded 8 wins and sustained 3 losses. He has pitched 78 innings, yielded 75 hits, fanned 55 and has a 2.54 ERA. |
