Givens Stops Moncton Cold, 6-0
Tuesday, June 12th , 2063
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Khalil Givens of the Bloomington Cardinals proved the point at Moncton War Memorial today, holding the Moncton Mohawks to 4 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Givens made us look real bad today," Mohawks manager Carter Seil said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Givens had 8 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk as the Cardinals took the 6-0 win.
On the season Givens has compiled a 3-4 mark with a 5.06 ERA in 8 starts. In pitching 48 innings he has 41 strikeouts and 16 walks while limiting the opposition to a .272 batting average.
