Vendel Tags Mohawks for 5 Hits
Monday, May 21st , 2063
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Nathan Vendel today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Moncton War Memorial and paced the Cowboys to a 12-4 win over the Moncton Mohawks.
After his dynamite batting performance, the Calgary third baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."
His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Nathan Vendel hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
This year Vendel has hit 6 home runs and posted a .324 batting average.
