Carlson Shuts Down Patriots, 5-0 Saturday, August 9th , 2059 It wasn't easy but Marc Carlson made it look that way. Carlson silenced the Lawrence Patriots, 5-0, in a Miramar Mavericks triumph at The Hole Grounds today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Carlson said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 1 walk and 1 hit. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else." Carlson has made 20 starts this season, posting 9 wins and 4 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .249 against him and he has 133 strikeouts in 129.2 innings with a 2.98 ERA.
