Cortese Records Shutout Against Canadians Sunday, August 14th, 2039 The Toronto Canadians struggled at the plate today against Clowns hurler Erik Cortese, who shackled them on 5 hits while hurling a complete game 4-0 shutout. "What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Canadians skipper Danny Hernandez in his postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow." Cortese finished the game with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in an excellent mound performance. "He pitched real well," Wilmington manager Melvin Saldana said. "Erik made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively." His record this year is 12-10 in 25 starts and Cortese has a 4.35 ERA.
