Wild Card Goes the Distance, Tuscaloosa Prevails
|
The Tuscaloosa Yellowhammers are heading to the Divisional Series, having narrowly defeated the Moncton Mohawks.
Tuscaloosa edged Moncton in the series 2-1, with a win at Hammer Park in the clinching game by a 5-4 margin.
Jacquil Laboy turned in a strong offensive performance for the Yellowhammers and got series MVP for his efforts.
"I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Lautering Trophy win."
It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Laboy continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance.
For the series, he hit .615 with a .643 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, 2 RBI and scored 1 runs.
The Divisional Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wild Card finishes.
