Red Sox Cain Sizzles with Cycle
|
Alex Cain accomplished one of the rarer feats in baseball today when he hit for the cycle against the Orleans Firebirds in the 8-7 Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox win at Red Wilson Field.
Afterward, Cain acknowledged that his accomplishment was special, but said he was more interested in helping the Red Sox win.
"Maybe one day I'll look back on this with more meaning, but right now I just want to go out tomorrow and put some good swings on the ball and help my club win another game," Cain said.
On his historic day, he went 4-for-5 with 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored -- and also got a spot in the history books.
Alex Cain hit a two-run triple in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Skyler Wilkerson in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and singled in the 9th.
To date Cain has chalked up a .326 average with 10 home runs, driven in 28 runs and scored 35 times.
