Skidding Freedom Lose 6th Straight
|
The California Kodiaks faced a tough opponent in Philadelphia pitcher Maurice Frost, but did just enough to pull out the victory at In-N-Out Field by a final score of 4-0. Frost went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs. Payton Cooke notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 7-2. The save was credited to Peyton Gerber, his 26th.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Dante Nunn came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Philadelphia pitcher Rich Thomas, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting California on top, 2-0.
"I like what I saw today," said California manager Louie Sumski, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The losses continue to mount for Philadelphia, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
