Pitcher of the Year Award Winner Announced Monday, September 12th , 2011 Alex Perez of the AZL Mariners will be adding a new centerpiece to his mantel after being tabbed for the Arizona League Pitcher of the Year Award today.
The 22-year-old hurler started 11 games this season, tallying a 7-3 record. In 78.1 innings, Perez gave up 38 hits, struck out 82, walked 19 and held opponents to a .143 average as he posted a fine 1.03 ERA.
He received 4 first place votes out of a possible 12. Bobby Salazar of the AZL Mariners finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Mario Zamilpa of the AZL Mariners finished third with 2 first place votes.
