Firestorm Blanked by Valdez Thursday, August 22nd , 2013 In an outstanding mound performance, AZL Brewers starter Ricky Valdez fired a complete-game shutout against the AZL Firestorm at Ballpark of Arizona. Valdez was the key to the 6-0 AZL win. The 18-year-old right-hander was in high spirits for much of the game, his mood largely unfazed by the 4 hits and 2 walks he allowed. "4 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter, as long as it was a shutout." Looking at his season stats, Valdez has won 2 and lost 4, collecting 46 strikeouts and 18 walks in 65.1 innings with a 1.52 ERA. View Boxscore |
