McCalister Strikes Out as GCL Manager Sunday, November 8th , 2009 The future of the GCL Red Sox will not include John McCalister. Much-criticized for his in-game managing by local scribes of late, McCalister has been fired as manager of the Red Sox. The decision is believed to have been made primarily by the team's owner, who was always quick to publicly criticize McCalister's decisions on the field and in the clubhouse. When reached at his home in GCL, owner The owner of the GCL Red Sox said the decision was made "in the best interest of the team," but he refused to elaborate on the specific reasons which led to the firing. McCalister told BNN he plans to explore his options for another job in baseball. "I'll miss GCL and I'll miss the Red Sox, but I won't miss having everything I do second-guessed," he said. |
