Marlins Win Round 1 Friday, September 4th , 2009 The championship dreams are still alive for the GCL Marlins, while it's back to the drawing board for the GCL Pirates. By a score of 8-2, GCL won the decisive game at West Palm Beach Municipal Stadium today. The Marlins took the series 4-2. Arturo Pena of the Marlins was named the Round 1 MVP. "All our guys are really focused winning the Round 2," Pena said. "I'm not too concerned about personal awards." The GCL Marlins will play against the GCL Royals in the next round. GCL won their series against the GCL Twins 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. View Boxscore |
