Great Stroke: Cusick Gets 5 Hits
Sunday, July 5th , 2009
It seemed Asheville Tourists second baseman Matt Cusick could do no wrong today, but it still didn't come out right.

The Tourists fell against the Augusta Greenjackets by the score of 8-6. Cusick did all he could, rapping out 5 hits in 7 at-bats, but in the end, Augusta prevailed at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

"I felt real good today, but my best just wasn't enough," Cusick said in the postgame interview. "We didn't play well enough to win. I saw the ball well and put the ball in play well, and they fell in for base hits. Some days they do that."

Matt Cusick singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, doubled in the 10th, struck out in the 12th and singled in the 14th.

This season Cusick is swinging the bat at a .266 rate with 63 hits in 237 at-bats. To date he has hit 10 home runs, scored 53 runs and driven in 41.
