Salem Slaps 5 Hits
Thursday, August 16th , 2012
It was a sensational day at the plate for Arkansas Travelers center fielder Emeel Salem, but a tough one for the team, as the Travelers dropped the contest, 7-6, to the Shreveport Swamp Dragons.
Even with the loss, Salem was pure misery for the Shreveport pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-6 in an explosive display of hitting.
"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Salem, who is the speedster .
"Salem really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Swamp Dragons manager Pete Falcone told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Emeel Salem grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and singled in the 11th.
This season, Salem is hitting .265 with 115 hits, 6 home runs, 36 RBIs, scored 58 runs and played in 106 games.
