San Antonio Shuts Out RockHounds, Martinez Winner Sunday, August 9th , 2009 San Antonio Missions starter Jose Martinez really did a number on the Midland RockHounds today, shutting them out 4-0 on 5 hits in a complete game victory. He issued no walks and had 14 strikeouts. "We didn't have good at-bats," said Midland manager Jerry Romero. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Martinez." This year Martinez has compiled a 9-5 mark with a 2.31 ERA in 15 starts. View Boxscore |
