Spiders Down Yankees, 7-6
|
The Cleveland Spiders beat the New York Yankees, 7-6, in 10 innings, in part because of shortstop Felipe Lopez. He went 4 for 5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. The loss drops New York to 3-2.
Omar Nava drove in one run for Cleveland. The 23-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Doug Fister. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"This game tested our mettle," said Nava.
