Big Day for Encarnacion in 9-7 Tigers Win
|
The Detroit Tigers defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 9-7, in part because of third baseman Edwin Encarnacion. Encarnacion went 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5 for the Tigers. The win was credited to former first round draft pick Derek Holland in relief. His record improves to 4-8. Alfredo Feliciano took the loss. George Kontos was credited with the save, his 3rd in 4 tries.
Encarnacion contributed in the bottom of the first. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Detroit get the win.
"There's still time to turn this season around," said Encarnacion.
After today's action, Detroit sits at 40-45, while Milwaukee falls to 48-36.
