A sparkling 14-5 mark for the year just about says it all -- that's what Marco Sanchez of the Buffalo Texans put up this season. That's why the Sub League 1 rated him the #1 hurler in the league and named him the 1980 Pitcher of the Year Award winner.

He held opposing clubs to a .211 batting average and compiled a 1.99 ERA. Sanchez stood out with 110 strikeouts while giving up 146 hits and 53 walks in 190 innings.

He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Kyle Russo of the Sunrise Manor Millers finished second in voting, while Jose Romo of the Buffalo Texans finished third.
