Aces Lose Late, 9-6
|
The St. Louis Stallions defeated the New York Aces, 9-6. Doing his part was designated hitter Robby Chacon, who was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The save went to Andrew Williamson, his 2nd this season. St. Louis is off to a hot start at 5-2.
St. Louis relied on the bat of Brandon Simms to get the win. The shortstop ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Stallions ahead, 8-6. For the game, Simms had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Simms said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
