Denver Rocketeers starter John Wolfe was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Houston Mavericks, 6-3. The Mavericks fall to 4-8 and continue their unimpressive start to the 1981 season.

In the bottom of the sixth, Denver left fielder Boboy Nierva gave his team the lead. With two out and a runner on 1st, Dr. Sticks hit his 1st home run of the year. Houston pitcher Alvaro Marrero surrendered it. With that, the Rocketeers jumped in front, 4-3.

Nierva called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
