Hit Parade: Winsor Pops 5 Hits
Tuesday, April 19th , 2022
Today at Fontana Stadium, Ben Winsor put on an impressive display.
The Winston-Salem Friars second baseman tagged Fontana pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Fontana Mercenaries by the score of 5-4.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Winsor said. "5-for-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Friars manager was unwilling to offer the second baseman much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.
"Ben told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager said.
Ben Winsor doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and walked in the 11th.
Winsor is batting at a .477 pace this season, picking up 21 hits in 44 at-bats with no home runs, 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
