Justin Vieira, the 22nd overall pick in the 2018 draft, was locked in. The left-hander led the Fresno Steelhawks to a 6-5 win against the Massachusetts Mothmen at Rogers Centre. The win went to Rob Burbank in relief. His record improves to 1-0. John Foster took the loss. Alex Smith, credited with the save, is now 3 for 5 in save opportunities.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Joel Anderson came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Massachusetts pitcher John Foster, he hit a 1-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Fresno on top, 6-5.

"Justin was pounding the zone," said Fresno manager .

The second-place Steelhawks have won 4 consecutive games.
