Giancola Rips Cypress for 5 Hits
Even as a kid, Mike Giancola said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Lugnuts Ballpark, Giancola showed how well he learned that lesson.

The 20-year-old center fielder had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Richmond Heroes, helping his team knock off the Cypress Lugnuts by a score of 14-5.

"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."

Mike Giancola singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

Giancola is hitting .302 this season with 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has 32 hits in 106 at-bats.
