Wreckers Suffer 7-5 Home Defeat
|
Austin shortstop Yamato Shimizu was sensational. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Huntington Beach beat the Wreckers, 7-5. Adrian Delashaw, the winner, improved to 4-3. He held the Wreckers to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3. With the win, Huntington Beach pushed its record to 20-14.
Huntington Beach used the timely hitting of Bob Brown to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hecklers on top, 6-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
In postgame comments to the Huntington Beach Observer, Brown said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
