Bulldogs Earn 6-1 Home Win
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 25-year old right fielder Chris Speed, the Virginia Beach Bulldogs stopped the River City Pirates, 6-1, in 9 innings. Adam Briley picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Hippolyte Hardy was tagged with the loss. The loss has the Pirates at 15-13.
The Bulldogs got a big at-bat from left fielder Seth Dixon. For the game, Dixon was 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Virginia Beach a 2-1 lead.
"We did a lot of things right," said Dixon.
