River City right fielder Sam Kimble had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Kimble slugged 2 home runs, even as Austin beat the Pirates, 5-2. Dave Hernandez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-5. Garrett Johnson was tagged with the loss. Austin, at 88-73, occupies second place in the American League AL Central.

Brad Weiland helped out the Austin cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the pinch hitter drew 1 walk.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Weiland.
