Swarm Prevail, 3-2, Over Idaho
|
The Columbus Swarm got a stellar effort from pitcher Phil Nelson, helping Columbus score a win over the visiting Idaho Potatoes, 3-2. Nelson got the win, improving to 2-3. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Nelson allowed no runs. Robin Hesketh was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 22 save opportunities.
In the bottom of the sixth, Francisco Reyna delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Columbus first baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Swarm in front, 3-2.
"It's a mindset," said Nelson. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
Columbus is now riding a 3-game win streak.
