The home crowd had a good time watching the Charlotte Ironmen and Austin Wreckers get after it.
Chris Fox brought his A-game to help Austin defeat the Charlotte Ironmen, 5-1. The winning pitcher was Fox, now 9-6. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6.
The Wreckers got a big at-bat from catcher Mike Garst. For the game, Garst went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 19th double of the season gave Austin a 2-0 lead.
Wreckers manager raved about Fox after the game. "I thought Chris was 'lights out.'"
The win elevated the Wreckers to 80-64.
