Pirates Score Late to Upend Gold Miners, 1-0
|
The Portland Gold Miners got a superb performance from pitcher Todd Stimmel, but the River City Pirates still won the game, 1-0. Stimmel threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Earning his 34th save of the year was Jorge Aguirre. The Pirates now have a record of 68-73.
Bobby Salcido had a direct impact on the outcome. Salcido contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put River City up, 1-0.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Salcido.
