Hecklers Fall Short, 1-0, at Long Beach
|
Huntington Beach pitcher Danny Vazquez gave the Polecats all they could handle, but in the end, Long Beach left Polecats Park with a win, 1-0. Vazquez allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 6.2 innings. Long Beach pitcher Josh Rand got the win, upping his record to 11-7. Danny Vazquez got the loss. David Davis was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 35 of 37 save opportunities.
Steve Allred, who is tied for 8th in the NL in home runs with 44, came through for Long Beach with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. The third baseman went 2 for 3 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 1 run batted in.
Allred said his team "played with determination."
The win elevated the Polecats to 73-54.
