Horsemen Suffer One-Run Loss at Texas
|
Texas Jets starter Cecil Cooper found his groove in his team's 5-4 win over the Omaha Horsemen. Cooper, the winner, moves to 8-9. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up no walks. Victor Espinosa was credited with the save, his 42nd in 45 tries.
The Jets got a big at-bat from catcher Nick Spike. For the game, Spike went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Texas a 3-1 lead.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Spike told the Texas Chronicle.
The Jets, now 66-53, have won 4 in a row.
