|
The Fresno Steelhawks saddled the River City Pirates with a loss at Mountiesdome. The final score was 7-6. Joel Anderson was 2 for 5, including 1 single and 1 home run. The Fresno shortstop scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Fresno reliever Rick Thrush got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Hector Valdes was tagged with the loss. The Steelhawks improved their record to 50-69 by beating River City.
Anderson had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-0 fastball from Hector Valdes, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Steelhawks a 7-5 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Anderson.
Anderson told a Fresno Daily News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
