River City Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
The River City Pirates topped the Long Beach Polecats, 6-4, at Mountiesdome. River City first baseman John Kruse was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. River City reliever Antonio Cordero was the winner. His record is now 5-3. Daniel Romero took the loss. With the victory, the Pirates upped their record to 57-53.

River City got a clutch hit from Jose Alvarez. The second baseman launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Kruse told the River City Gazette.
