Ironmen Prevail, as Wildcard Series Goes to the Wire
|
With a narrow 3-2 series win, the Charlotte Ironmen have eliminated the Austin Wreckers and are Wildcard Series winners.
"We tried not to look ahead to the Division Series, but we thought we'd be there for sure," said left fielder Tyreek Hicks, who was named series MVP.
Charlotte won the final game by a score of 5-0, wrapping it up at Austin Stadium.
Hicks's big series saw him hit .409 with a .480 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Charlotte Ironmen will play against the El Paso Bobcats in the next round. El Paso had a bye in the Wildcard Series. The Division Series schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
