League Championship Series Goes the Distance, Knoxville Prevails
Friday, October 3rd , 2042
The joy and relief on the faces of the Knoxville Blue Coats players was obvious as they celebrated their League Championship Series win over the Toledo Tigers.
"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Knoxville shortstop Glenn Chapman, shortly after the 8-6 win that clinched the series 4-3. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."
The team is now off to the World Series.
Chapman won series MVP honors on the strength of his .400 batting average during the series. He also had a .467 on-base percentage and 3 home runs, drove in 8 RBI and scored 6 runs.
The Knoxville Blue Coats don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Springfield Generals - Austin Outlaws series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
