Torres Sharp in 3-0 Shutout
Tuesday, September 2nd , 2042
It wasn't easy but the Knoxville Blue Coats made it look that way.
Starter Mario Torres shut out the Worcester Hearts despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Knoxville Blue Coats cruised to victory, 3-0. Torres allowed only 3 hits and rang up 9 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
This season, Torres shows a 9-13 record in 27 games, 178.1 innings, 154 strikeouts, and a 4.49 ERA.
